Found an interesting website – Free PCB

April 5, 2006

Wondering what this is?
Well, this is one of the designs contributed by Vignesh, a student of Thiagaraja College to freepcb.com, which is a free, open-source printed circuit board layout editor for Microsoft Windows, released under the GNU General Public License. It was designed to be easy to learn and easy to use, yet capable of professional-quality work.

Vignesh, a student from Madurai had contributed to this forum and I thought it is recognizable! Well, you are wondering – lot of people are contributing to GNU, from Madurai, but why this guy?! I thought this is different because it is not a software he had contributed.

Thought of appreciating this guy and recognize him through Made In Madurai News Bulletin.

We will continue on this topic later…Will write more on this.

Karma Yoga – Holy Bhagavad Gita!

April 5, 2006

Karma Yoga is one of the very important chapters in Bhagavad Gita and in life. If we follow Karma Yoga even 20%, we should be doing great in our life.

If we take every successful man/woman in this world, they would have knowingly or unknowingly practised Karma Yoga.

Do your duty and do not expect the results. We don’t have any rights on the results, but for duties we have!

In a way, that is designed correctly – If we think of the results while we perform our duties, we either excited or tensed, depending upon the confidence we have on the task and we might loose the project/task to failure! That is the reason life is designed like that.

Mainly Karma Yoga tells us to concentrate on the process rather than the results, from a management perspective.

What we sow is what we reap. Cause and Effect Rule! Whole world runs based on this rule!!

Excerpts from Bhagavad Gita

Why do you uselessly worry? Of whom are you needlessly afraid? Who can kill you? The Atma is neither born nor does it die.

Whatever happened in the past is for your good. Whatever is happening now is also good and whatever happens in the future is, that too, will be good. Do not have regrets about the past. Do not worry about the future. The presence is flowing effortlessly.

What have you lost that makes you weep? What did you bring into this life that you have lost? What did you nurture that has been destroyed. You brought nothing into this life and nothing you take while you are here can you take with you when you depart. Whatever you took or gave, you did so only here and only from Bhagavan. You came into the world empty-handed, and will leave empty-handed. What is yours today was another persons yesterday and the day after tomorrow is will belong to someone else. You think all this is yours because you are identified with this existence. Alas, is it this materialistic attachment that is the cause of your unhappiness.

Change is the law of the Universe. What you think of as death is actually real life. In a moment you become rich. The next moment you are poor. Yours and mine, small and large, ours and theirs: banish these petty thoughts from your mind! Here everything is yours and you belong to everyone else.

Neither is the body yours, nor do you belong to this body. This body is made of the five elements: earth, air, water, fire and space, and someday is will return from whence it came. But the atma is firm and immoral. What then are you?

Surrender yourself to the Lord. He will be your greatest help and comfort. The person who knows this is unafraid, does not worry and is free from sorrow.

Whatever you do, surrender it at the feet of the Lord. When you do this you will know the bliss of one who is free from the cycle of births and deaths.

Read, Read, Read!!

April 5, 2006

As Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam had told –
Read, Read, Read…
Only if you read, you get dreams.
only if you get dreams, you set aims,
all of your thoughts/aims becomes hard wired into your brain,
all the thoughts becomes actions someday and you become an achiever!

Basically, read read read…then life changes automatically and leads you to reach heights!!

Madurai Kamaraj University Staff

April 5, 2006

please note – this incident does not want to hurt all the staff of the university or government employees. this article is written just for fun and this is to be taken in a comic sense, even though it is a real incident.

————————–
I went to Madurai Kamaraj Univeristy couple of years back with my friend for his distance education course on Marketing Management. We were waiting for his uncle to reach his department in the university, so that we can get his help for getting the admission for his distance education course.

We waited..waited..waited. At around 11:30AM, his uncle came after all his side business activities (his side business – is to give loans and get interests!!). After reaching the university he ordered for vada and tea. In fact, we were also offered for the same and we had! Point to be noted here is till afternoon he didn’t look into his files for his work!! Not sure he worked after we left the office in the afternoon!

We also noticed that there were few folks reading kumudam and ananda vikatan tamil magazines.

If you are thinking this is what happens in government office, it is not the case – they also do work – otherwise how does the things function. We cannot always crib about them!! There are exceptions!!

In fact, today’s few of the software engineers – are reading dinamani, kumudam and vikatan.com online for timepass!! I don’t see much difference, when both of them read the magazines in the office time!

If the job is done by them somehow, it should be fine. If the job is not done, the question should be raised to the staff – otherwise he/she should be fine. This is one way of seeing it.

Having said all these, we are all really proud of having Madurai Kamaraj University in Madurai. It offers huge set of classes and some of the great students are prepared there. Great scholars are made in this place!!

Professors are great and if you take a look at the set of courses they offer – it is huge! All over India, people are taking courses from the Distance Education Courses.

In fact, BioTechnology course http://www.biotechmku.org and the department is very famous in India. Campus interviews are also there in this university for placement of the students of this university.
