Read Sundara Kaandam(kandam) during pregnancy!

April 6, 2006

My friend and his recently become pregnant wife went to a doctor “MD in gynaecology
and obstetrics” – for the initial check up. You know what the doctor had told a
after all the medical and scientific counselling –

She had told to read Sundara Kaandam sitting in the pooja room. Do not read
Mahabharatha! Well, Sundara Kandam is the part of Ramayana.

This is the time when Rama and Sita were separated by Ravana. Hanuman travelled
across the ocean facing all the hurdles and reached Lanka as a messenger to meet
Seetha and give the ring to her. Looks like this is a very good thing to read when
you are pregnant. We need to read it very carefully and with full concentration.
Also, this is basically because to understand that there are various struggles
Hanuman faces to reach Seetha and convey the message and also the same situation as
husband and wife are living separate, which is something similar to the pregnant
lady. Isn’t this interesting?!!

Just don’t exist! Live Life!!

April 6, 2006

Everyone has purpose in life. Everyone should find out why he/she has come to this
world. We should not just eat, drink and sleep. We should not just lead the life of
getting birth, do the routine, give birth, do the routine and die! That is called
“existence”. We need to LIVE the life.

There has to be a change in the world, in which you were born and from which you
leave. We need to be the catalyst in the world we live and change the world or be a
change, as Gandhi said.

There is another quote from Gandhi again – We need to live life as we are going to
die tomorrow and learn as if we are going live for ever.

Think yourself as being a centre and around you there are lot of concetric circles
– Every circle means your things/lives that are close to you. For example, there
will be a circle which is just near you – that is your personal space. second
circle will be your family, if you are a family oriented person. And third could
your friends. Fourth could be relatives. Fifth could be your society. Sixth could
be your city you love. Seventh could be your country. You might want to prioritize
your circles according to your wish.

Considering various facts, we need to identify why we are here and DO the thing,
instead of just exist by doing the routine.

Actor Mohanlal opening a restaurant

April 6, 2006

Malayalam Actor Mohanlal opened a restaurant in Bangalore – Harbour Market is the name! Few days back Malayalam and Tamil Actress Gopikha (Gopika) opened a restaurant. This restaurant seems to be a good investment for the actor and actresses. In fact, lot of actor and actresses already have them opened.

Probably this is the first business they startoff with, though there are some other businesses they look into like – marriage halls, hotels, schools, colleges etc.,

Captain Vijayakanth has a huge set of businesses under his umbrella. Actor Vijay has many. Actor Arvind Samy has a BPO company on his own. Tamil Actor and MP Napolean has lot of businesses – one of them is a software company called – Jeevan Technologies!!

India Together Org

April 6, 2006

If you get a chance, check out indiatogether.org, which I think it is the “New Indian Express” of NGOs/NPOs.

They cover many topics like Agriculture, Education, Children, Economy, Environment, Culture, Media, Law, Poverty etc., issues in this online news paper of NGOs.

Most importantly, they provide free advertisement for NGOs. The two main editors are Ashwin Mahesh and Subramanian Vincent, though there are many columnists and writers.

This site gives more insight and helps us to understand many perspectives of the issues in India.

Talking to a foreigner!

April 6, 2006

When talking to a foreigner, talk English slow, steady and loud(reasonably audible). Indians(new entrants) try to talk faster english, which might not be clear to foreigners. Learn Phonetics. Phonetics is the subject where it shows how every word is split. You can check this out in any dictionary, just right next to every word. Learn how to spell a word. see the dots between the letters. For example – You can see how responsibility is pronounced by an Indian and in other hand an American. Responsibility – re•spon•si•bil•i•ties – (r-spns-bl-t).

Lessons from American Products

April 6, 2006

Tip 1:
There are somethings to be learnt from american products. Any product if you take – the design of the product takes care in such a way that it is safe and secure for the user. If you think the designer has not designed in such a way that it is not safe/secure, then they give a warning and label it on the product. Or else you will be sued:-). You can take an example of an iron box/bread toaster. If they are not able to design a product safe, they give warning. This applies to software products too. If you are not able to design in a particular way, give a warning or message. User will be happy to be aware of it, rather to face consequences or see surprises.
